GOSPEL IN LIFE GROUP

What is it?

In a nutshell the Gospel in Life Group is people of varying ages and experiences coming together to get to know God better.

Where does the name Gospel in Life Group come from?

It’s from an 8 week course by Timothy Keller on the gospel and how it is lived out in all of life. First in our hearts, then in community and out into the world. We used this material way back when the group didn’t even have a name but it really captures what studying the Bible is all about.

When does it meet?

Alternate Thursday evenings at BBC. Come for 7.30pm and you’ll have time for coffee and chat before things start at 7.45pm. we aim to finish by 9.30pm.

Who is it for?

Anyone, not just church members. If you can come on a regular basis that’s great, but dropping in when you can make it is fine too.

What can I expect?

At the start of the evening we meet as one group and there is time for any general updates and opening in prayer. We then break into smaller groups for study time and discussion. We may be looking at a particular book in the Bible or a theme or topic which affects our daily lives as Christians. Prayer is an important part of our time together and in the small groups there is an opportunity to pray together.

What do people say about the Gospel in Life Group?

  • Everyone’s contribution is genuinely appreciated
  • We all learn from one another
  • There’s an atmosphere of mutual loving support
  • Helpful discussions on the challenges of life in our contemporary culture
  • You don’t feel under pressure to speak
  • I’m more disciplined about reading my Bible as I know I’ll be coming along to the group

Anything else I should know?

Our session runs from October to the end of May with a break over Christmas and New Year. We enjoy getting together socially too, often with eating involved!
